He has also composed the original music for theatre shows, documentaries, tv series, films and theatre dance shows. As a sound designer he has worked both in feature film projects, documentaries, advertising, theatre and short films. He has also recorded extensively the landscape of Greece and has been involved in major sound projects like the SoundscapesLandscapes a sound walk in Athens Greece and the village of Sellasia Sparta. He is a co-founder of Medea Electronique synergy of Artists and Koumaria Residency.

RESIDENCY
During his time at BAR Manousakis investigated what lies beneath the visual reality of a city, specifically the dimension that lies concealed rich in sounds that transforms a city into an auditory experience. To the artist, “Beirut, along with Athens, have a special intensity. They have been a living, meaningful space since antiquity: Cosmopolitanism and localism, multiculturalism, the development and gentrification of the area, pockets of resistance, tradition and modernity, a working-class neighbourhood, immigrants, artists, night venues and clubs, alternative cultural spaces, tourists, and monuments of both the ancient and modern times”. Manousakis created various soundscapes to capture the essence of the city through recordings of various neighborhoods across greater Beirut.

Manolis Manousakis’s residency is supported by Onassis AiR: an (inter)national artistic research residency program of the Οnassis Cultural Centre Athens, within the scope of the Onassis Future initiative.
